Video Websites that offer a Clickable Linkback

If videos are not an important part of your business model it should be.

I prefer to only post on video websites that offer a clickable linkback in the description area.

Why?

1. It gives my website more search engine juice since a high traffic site is linking to my website.

2. By having a "clickable" link I can track the effectiveness of my videos in persuading people to find out more by clicking the link going to my website.

My tactic, especially with Youtube, is to start at the very beginning by writing a short blurb in the description box such as:

Read more: http://www.givejonadollar.com

Then you can write a description underneath the "Read More" and your website link.

The reasoning behind this is that the description box on youtube is annotated and you can only see the first couple of lines of the first paragraph. By putting the "Read More" and your link first........you will ensure yourself more clickthroughs.

Here are the video websites I know of that offer you the ability
to place a "clickable" link in the video description box.

The biggest and the best. Use my tactic above when posting on Youtube.

2. Facebook

I don't think near as many people use the Facebook video feature as they do on Youtube, but if you have a lot of friends, it's a good way to help take things viral fast and get some search engine juice at the same time for the quality link.

The traffic is not as great as Youtube, but it is still pretty good.

Still a notch above the 2 above, but still a good option.

*THIS WILL BE AN ONGOING LIST*
And I need your help!

Sadly, I don't know of many video websites that offer a "clickable" linkback in the video description area.

Even more frustrating is the fact that when I do Google Searches on this subject I come up with very little.

If those of you who are reading this out there could help me build a comprehensive list here for website owners like yourself and me that are looking for more resources on this subject.....I would be eternally grateful.

You can leave your findings, and a link back to your website, in the comments box below.

2012 Republican Presidential Candidates - 2011 Thanksgiving Google News Numbers

I was compelled to check Google News today and see if Ron Paul of Texas got a bump on the internet from the recent CNN Foreign Policy debate where he was allowed to speak for a good amount of time finally.

Surprisingly, at least to me anyway, the media blackout of Ron Paul does not simply extend to the MSM..........but it also applies to the internet as well........ if these numbers from Google are to be believed.

Here are the number of news articles on the candidates from the last week.

Google "News" search for Presidential Candidates on Thanksgiving 2011.
*For the Past Week*
11:45am Eastern Time

Mitt Romney - 22,400 Results
Herman Cain - 20,000 Results
Rick Perry - 18,900 Results
Newt Gingrich - 17,800 Results
Michelle Bachman - 12,400 Results
* Ron Paul - 10,900 Results
Jon Huntsman - 5,150 Results
Gary Johnson - 4,080 Results
Rick Santorum - 4,550 Results

I am a huge Ron Paul supporter and there is no way I would support anyone else.

I have some Questions for my Readers:

- What do you the reader make of the numbers above? Do these numbers matter? Why or why not?
- Do you feel the majority of Americans still do not know who Ron Paul is or do you feel they simply know who he is and reject his policy positions?
- Are the majority of the article results above from primarily big media companies?
- If you feel Ron Paul is not viable or electable.........why would you state that?

I'm just looking for some honest assessments on what these numbers mean.

If they are viable, I hope it fires up the Ron Paul people to continue to do more and more to get his name out there.

Jon's Wisdom - #3 - 5 Tips for the Drinking Inhibited

5 Tips for the Drinking Inhibited

I have something I have been lamenting often to friends as of late.

It's always someone's damn birthday.

Someone is always in town I haven't seen forever.

It's a blessing and a curse knowing so many people.

Alcohol is one of those things that a lot of human beings love. It lowers inhibition and simply allows people to let it all hang loose. However, for some people, logic is not employed much when it comes to alcohol.

Here are some tips from a guy who has had quite a bit to drink in his life.

Tip 1:

There are 365 days a year. You probably have 700 friends on Facebook. That's very close to 2 birthdays every day on average. This is not including those you know who are not on Facebook.

It's important to prioritize which birthdays you must attend and which ones you shouldn't. Yea, someone is in town this weekend. It's probably NOT their birthday. Do you have to drink? Can you afford to drink? Can't you just pop in, say hi, and maybe be the responsible guy every once in a while that gets his friends home safe?

Something to think about.

You don't always have to be so damn hedonistic all the time.

Tip 2:

Consider the finances.

Unless you are a rich person, and money is of no consequence, you might take a closer look at your spending. What is your alcohol buying you? Piece of mind? A piece of ass?

For me......I've had a lot of good memories with my friends and with the women I have courted. However, when you invest in alcohol, on the percentage, it very rarely pays you back.

How much are you spending a year?

How much value are you getting back for the money spent?

I'm not here to judge. I'm just asking a logical question.

Tip 3:

Stay logical.

One of the toughest things when my friends and I go out is figuring out what we have come to call "the logistics". Who is going to drive? Where are we staying? Who will be taking whom back the next day to get their vehicle? Who is paying for the cab and how are we splitting it?

Driving home drunk is rarely worth it. Of course, I think Drunk Driving Laws are a farce, and I think the state capitalizes on a victimless crime when they arrest drunk drivers.

However, the safe thing is to take a cab, or have a group of friends that simply want to stay in a confined place and drink inside.

Here are the questions I ask when drinking:

- How much money do I have to spend?
- Where am I staying?
- How am I getting home?

Allocating and figuring out these decisions beforehand can save disaster. For example, if you go out without thinking, then spend too much money at the bar, and don't have money for a cab, you could easily justify driving home.

Plan ahead.

Tip 4:

If you wouldn't marry her/him.............why would you have sex with her/him?

I've violated this tenant but I want you to think about it and keep it in your head.    If the person you are sleeping with is not attractive, or you wouldn't display that person to friends, is it really worth risking a disease, bad associations, or even having an ugly kid with someone you don't care about?

For a single person who wants to put a "notch in the headboard" I can certainly understand your strategy.

However, busted condoms happen, and often times when you are drunk, sometimes you simply forego the condom or proper protection.

It's not a great formula.

Only sleep with people you could see yourself being with.   Otherwise, you will have a problem that is not always easily correctable.

Tip 5:

Water and Aspirin.

One thing that I have always hated about drinking is wasting the next day.   Before you pass out, and drool saliva all over your pillow or significant other while you are snoring in ignorant bliss, be sure to down a big glass of water and take a Tylenol or Aspirin before you go to bed.

You will be happy you did the next day.

I hope some of these tips are helpful and you will keep them in your head next time you drink.

Afterall, I might be saving you from disaster!

How much is that worth you ask?

I think it's worth one of your dollars.

Don't you?  :) :)

Jon's Business Ideas: The Inflatable Indoor Cigarette Chamber

THE INFLATABLE INDOOR CIGARETTE CHAMBER

I like smoking cigarettes.

Even worse, I like smoking cigarettes inside.

Being a citizen of Indiana.........the cold season is upon us.

And, I hate the cold.

You are thinking, yea, what the heck are you doing in Indiana wise guy?

Fair point.

However, now is the time of year that people start jumping on my case. I generally try to hide in a bathroom with the exhaust on, or open a window, or open the door and blow outside.

However, the flack continues, and rightfully so.

So, hence this business idea.

THE INFLATABLE INDOOR CIGARETTE CHAMBER

Yes. Yes!

Here is how it could work:

- Ever blown up one of those inflatable beds? The inflatable cigarette chamber can work the same way. It could expand out 10 feet high and 6 feet wide. Place it in the garage, in a spare room, or anywhere you could get away with it.

- It would be nice if the cigarette chamber had some type of filter that converted the outgoing smoke into some type of a sweet smell. This would keep friends, family, and girlfriends and wives from complaining.

This is an undeveloped idea but I think it could hold some value to some people.

What ideas would you contribute to make this idea better?

Feel free to leave your comments in the box below.

As with all my ideas, this is yours to steal.

If you hit it big, or make a little bit off this, don't forget to Give Jon a Dollar.
