Jon's Wisdom - #2 - How to do the Dishes (For the Bachelors)

Men hate doing dishes.

Personally I would rather clean up dog poop. Or clean the toilet. Something about the entire process of doing dishes just gives me the shivers.

(Yea, yea. You say these things exist called "dishwashers". I don't like them either.)

How to put Dishes "in their place".

I was taught by an old roommate of mine a great method. Essentially, just have 1 of everything. 1 fork. 1 spoon. 1 butter knife. 1 cutting knife. a bowl, a dinner plate. a cup to drink out of.

You are pretty much set.

Here is how this process works:

1. When you need to eat again, you have no choice but to wash the utensil that is required for the food or drink you are about to consume.
2. The sink never piles up.
3. You can buy a sponge that has built-in dish soap for easy and quick cleaning.
4. If you really get to dislike this process........that is ok. Just buy paper plates, plastic forks, plastic cups, and things of that nature, and simply don't do dishes at all.

There you have it!

Eureka.   Abracadabra.   Bada-Bing.

Sure, you can buy things like an electric can opener if you are a total sissy.

Sure, you might be able to convince the girl you slept with last night to do your dishes for a 10 minute foot massage.

But, then again, you are probably not smooth like that.

So here is a great method for you to use if you are a bachelor and you don't want the dishes to pile up.

A few closing tips:

- Resist overtures from a girlfriend (if you achieve one) that says you need more dishes.
- Resist family members who visit and then try to donate you more dishes. Say no.
- Just pouring water over the dish is not cool.   Clean the damn thing.   If you follow my advice above it will
take you less than 37 seconds.
